As promised, here are the details of our two year doctor’s visit. As for how it felt to be there, this photo of Milo pretty much tells the story. It was miserable. Both boys were sick and out of sorts. But we did manage to get some vital statistics:
Levi:
Height: 33 3/4 inches (25-50th percentile)
Weight: 26 lbs (25th percentile)
Milo:
Height: 34 1/2 inches (25-50th percentile)
Weight: 27 lbs (25 – 50th percentile)
Doctor Tom says that we are doing well and are still on our growth curves. We discussed sleeping (how can we get them to do it more), eating (how’d they get to be so picky?), and pooing in the tub (i know, i know…). We also talked about Milo’s feet. The doc finally agreed with me that we should get his legs checked out by an pediatric orthopedic specialist, since his inversion is asymmetrical. We’ll make that appointment this week and might even go when Gramma Char is in town.
Finally we were recommended the following two books: The Emotional Life of a Toddler and How to Get Your Kid to Eat… But Not Too Much. We bought two copies of each – one for me and one for Tamaryn.
Anyhow, with all this bad health news this week from us I thought I’d share this adorable photo from this morning. We had a super sunny morning and we all wanted to be sitting outside. These are the sweet chairs that Gramma bought the guys.

As most of you guys know, Levi is really sick. He has had a cold on and off pretty much since their birthday. Earlier in the week we had our two year checkup (details coming) where our doc said that the guys just have nasty colds. Since they Levi has gotten steadily worse. He has been miserable. Not moving, not eating, and mostly sleeping the day away. Yesterday we brought him to the doctor again and this time the doc found an ear infection (ouch!) AND pneumonia (OUCHOUCHOUCH!!).
He’s had two doses of his antibiotics so far and that is not really enough to expect a huge turnaround. And he has not had one. He has spent the last 72 hours, when not in his bed sleeping, doing this. He just conks out wherever he is. And this is a boy who never ever ever sleeps anywhere but his bed, in arms, the carseat, or a stroller.

Yesterday the boys had their 18 month checkup. The doc is really happy and says they are doing well. But, as we know, all anyone wants are the details and photos, so here we go.
Milo
Weight: 24.13 lbs (25-50th percentile).
This is a little strange since he was 25lbs last time. But he has been fussy, probably due to teething and, so I guess we need to watch this.
Length: 323/4 inches (50- 75th percentile)
One inch taller than last time!
Head circumference: 48.1 cm (50 – 75th percentile)

Even just getting measured, Levi knows what is going to happen … SHOTS!
Levi
Weight: 23.10 lbs (10- 25th percentile)
Levi was 23.15 at last visit. But he is teething too. or maybe this is just a normal growth slowdown. Anyhow, the doc wasn’t concerned.
Length: 32.5 inches (25- 50th percentile)
Levi grew an inch and a half!
Head circumference: 47.2 cm (25- 50th percentile)
Some fun things that have happened recently:
- Gramma Carol and Grampa Len visited this weekend and we had so much fun!
- I have been taking a few days off work to spend time with the boys. As some of you know, I went on my first business trip since the boys were born a few weeks ago and I wanted to spend extra time with the boys (and my visiting Mom!) to make up for it.
- Both boys added new words to their vocabulary lately. They both say “baby” and Levi said “Bottle” clear as day. Once. And he also now says “Woof”. So cute!
- The boys have been playing with Manny. They pick up his toys and throw them… getting a game of fetch going! And Manny loves it as well.
- Levi HEARTS his “Doggy Doggy(s)”. I need to remember who gave them to us because they have become his favorite lovey. Was it you?

We took the boys to their 15 month checkup today. Ok, we were a little late late on this one. Shut up! You try raising twins! Ahem… anyhow.
All anyone wants are the details and photos, so I’ll quit the editorializing and get down to biznatch.
Milo
Weight: 25 lbs (50th percentile)
Length: 313/4 inches (50- 75th percentile)
Head circumference: 47.8 cm (50 – 75th percentile)

Levi
Weight: 23.15 lbs (25- 50th percentile)
Length: 31 inches (25- 50th percentile)
Head circumference: 47 cm (25- 50th percentile)

They were champs even though they got two shots today! They got chicken pox and the DTAP vaccines.
The doc said they were growing really well. He watched them walk and said they were walking just right. Milo’s bow legs will probably straighten out over a few years. And there is even a pretty good chance that their outie belly buttons (caused by small umbilical hernias) will turn into innies.
Other things we might see soon…
- Removes articles of clothing
- Has four to ten words
- Points at objects and names body parts
- Shakes head “no”
- Kicks and throws a ball
- Draws “pictures”
- May sort shapes and colors
- Shy with strangers
- Uses “no” and “mine” to asset independence.
- Hits / bites if excited, frustrated, or having difficulty communicating
In other news… Want to know what an angel looks like when he sleeps?

Milo models his rash for the world to see.
The house has been pretty crazy for the past 24 hours. First off, Milo got another eye infection. The doctor thinks it is due to a blocked tear duct and we have been referred to a pediatric opthamologist. The appointment is not until April, though. In the meanwhile, the doctor gave us a prescription for the same antibiotic which worked for us last time. But, and here is the exciting part… Milo had an allergic reaction to the medicine this time! He got a rash and a fever. And that was enough for me to flip out and nearly drive him to the ER. Dave had to restrain me. So, everyone who reads this should know: Milo is allergic to Sulphur.
And poor Levi has come down with the stomach flu which is going around town. I’ll spare you the gory details here. Just know that 1) we need a new carpet and 2) yuck. Let’s hope Milo does not come down with the stomach flu too.
You are lucky I’m not uploading a photo of Levi’s affliction.
UPDATE: As of 8.24 AM on Wednesday Levi has not been sick in over 12 hours and Milo’s rash has cleared up. Sha-woo.
UPDATE 2: Both guys are sick again. Fevers, stomach flu, the works. I guess this morning was just a good morning.
