The boys turned 20 months old yesterday. And our fabulous Nanny, Tamaryn, made a sign with lots of help from Milo. He is responsible for all the colors on the sign; quite the artist, no?
Ok, we may be 20 months old, but really, what toy do you have over there, Levi?Huh? Wha? Ungh.
Milo looooves Tamaryn!
They are learning loads of new words lately. Well, Levi is anyhow. He has recently picked up “Meow, door, no, yeah, and woah!” Thankfully, he has not learned what “no” actually means. He just says it sometimes. Milo knows that a cat says “Meow”, a firetruck says “woo-ooo-ooo” and that a dog says “woof woof”. He also knows “me”, but we think it means “more” to him.
Wow – did we have fun today! I’m just posting this video before we go to bed and will post more details and photos tomorrow. But in the meanwhile, here is a video from one of the boys’ TWO cupcake birthday celebrations.
No babies were harmed in the making of this film, though it looks like one might have been.
The guys have had a big B I G growth spurt in the last month. They have learned to pull themselves up on: Daddy, Mommy, footstools, chihuahuas, chairs, tables, and couches. Well, Levi has done all that… Milo pulls himself up on footstools.
They also are getting totally OVER being spoon fed. They really prefer to feed themselves: cheerios, baby mum-mmmms, sweet potato cubes, crackers, etc.
And, as you might have seen in the videos we posted recently, they’ve gotten really good at cracking each other up.
Levi has discovered and mastered clapping. And drooling. And high-fiving. Which is adorable since, to him, high-fiving is just like clapping… only with my hand in between. I wonder when he’ll figure out that you only high five with ONE hand.
Milo has developed a new happy-face. When he gets really happy he pulls an adorable face scrunch. I’ll try to get it on camera.
Milo has moved on to size five diapers… and Levi is along for the ride. We could still fit in size fours, but I don’t want to have two size diapers for the two guys. We are a one size fits all house!
Oh, and they have both had their first matzo ball soup. It is the small things.
Wow. Can you believe that guys are T E N months old now? Lately they’ve been up to all kinds of exciting shenanigans. For instance, Levi is almost cruising all by himself. They are playing together more and more … or maybe they are just stealing each other’s toys… hard to tell. They just love their solid food and have had their first restaurant meal – macaroni and cheese at the Red Door in Fremont. Breakfast is their favorite meal. Books are utterly fascinating; they love to hear them AND eat them. Ms. Spider’s New Car is their current favorite. And, last but certainly not least, they are sleeping through the night nearly every night – next step is to put them back in the same room and see if this continues.
Levi in blue and Milo in grey ponder the months ahead
Oh it is a big day here in Lake-Land. Not ONLY is it the ninth month we’ve had the guys in our lives… but it is the day Levi decided he’d go ahead and do the same military scoot that Milo does. We was playing with Milo and they were both chasing the “9 months old” paper and some blocks when he went for it… scoot! So, that makes 100% of the boys in the Lake household who can move from place to place under their own power – albeit a little slowly.
We did some baby-proofing today. Moved the couch, got rid of a piece of furniture and some cords, and we are going to do a little more tonight now that the guys have gone to bed. Tomorrow we get baby gates to corral these cowpokes!
The guys also had a little Ethiopian food today. Don’t get too excited… it was just the stewed spinach (Delicious!) and the soft pancake bread (Why don’t more babies eat this stuff?).
Finally, lest you think that all the action is taking place in Levisville… Milo is juuuuuuuuust about to pop a tooth. I think it will be in the next couple days. Also, the poor little one has a cold (as do Mommy and Daddy) that Mommy brought home from work. Levi is mostly managing to keep the cold at bay. Little toughie.
And here is a photo of Levi demonstrating one of the 8-month milestones… sitting without support! We can’t believe it has been 8 months already! The time is zooming by so fast Dave and I can hardly keep up.
