‘Twas the night before kindergarten graduation

June 19th, 2014 — 5:35am

And I cannot believe that my babies are graduating kindergarten! I’ve worked so hard since I was put on bed rest at 18 weeks keeping them alive (in utero), helping them grow, watching them bloom, teaching them how to be little men, getting them evaluated, continuing their progress, against all odds and people adamantly denying that they needed testing and a little extra help. All while working at microsoft and dealing with grown-up ….. broken pinky-promises nobody could ever have imagined.

But, as hard as I’ve worked, they’ve worked 100 times harder. Since I got them into speech therapy at Boyer when they were two years old and had their own twin language (aguguck, anyone?), they’ve done thousands of hours of PT, OT, special classes, karate, play therapy, and homework….. Like goddamn champs (they float like butterflies, sting like bees!). These boys are the most special, gorgeous spirited, kind, adventurous, loving, smart, energetic, curious, emotionally literate, beautiful creatures I’ve ever met. And since the beginning of this year, their teachers, IEP team, OT, and play therapists have all said they are blossoming and coming into their own more than ever.

Tomorrow is their kindergarten graduation.

Nobody could have imagined the events of this year (The Queen of England used the phrase “Annus horribilis in 1992, and I’ll borrow from her) but they’ve taken everything in stride, continued working harder than any other 10 kids their age combined, and are growing into, as cousin Kenny said when they were 2 days old, “solid citizens”.

I’m beyond proud of them and continue to learn from their strong, gorgeous spirits daily.

Levi, Milo, if you ever read this, I love you. I’m overwhelmingly proud of you. And you’ve taught me what love really is. You are incredible people…. Keep being you.

nose,

mommy

Guess who lost a tooth: Milo Edition!

June 16th, 2014 — 7:09pm

“Mommy, I pulled out my tooth!” Woke me up last night. So I jumped laser quick (if a laser was on a turtle) into Tooth Fairy Mode!

Like Levi, Milo wanted to keep his tooth. So we wrote a note to tuck in with his Tooth Fairy Owl.

Look, ma! No tooth! And it didn’t even hurt! Now we just have to wait for her to come…. “Mommy, I think the Tooth Fairy is magical!”

Levi, vampin'.

Oh, we love to try on glasses at the Fremont Market! Levi looks like a tiny Lenny Kravitz, no?

Milo looking at himself in amazing specs in a double-sided mirror produce a whole new kind of Selfie-portrait-mashup ™.
