First up at the scale: Milo
Next up: Levi… who was a little frightened at the whole process. Note the near-terror in his eyes.
The mirror is the most fun thing of the whole appointment.
The Doc was really happy with the guys’ grown and progression. They have both stayed on their grown curve and are very happy boys. We need to continue to work with them on fun things like eating finger foods (pasta noodles, soft veggies, cheerios, etc) and working on standing and cruising. It is amazing that Levi is only a little smaller than Milo – the weight difference feels far greater than it actually is. They even got a flu shot today and Milo didn’t even cry. Levi cried, but he was waaaay overdue for his nap. And would have been crying anyhow.
Here are the details of the day:
Levi
Weight: 18 lb 14 oz at the 25th percentile (was 16.3 lbs and 25th percentile at 6 month checkup)
Length: 27 1/2 inches at the 25th percentile (was 25 1/2 inches and 25th percentile at 6 month checkup)
This is great for Levi – he has stayed on his growth curve.
Milo
Weight: 20lb 3 oz at the 50th percentile (was 17.2 lbs and 50th percentile at 6 month checkup)
Length: 28 inches at 25-50th percentile (was 26 inches and 25-50th percentile at 6 month checkup)
So, what is next? Well… we are looking for the guys to have three meals of solids a day and two healthy snacks. Lately they are enjoying pureed roasted eggplant, acorn squash, corn, whole fat yogurt, quinoa, silky tofu, and anything with bananas mixed in. Yum! We are even trying beets this week! And for those who are concerned about them not getting meat… they get all the protein they need from formula and milk. But they’ll lack iron in their diet – so we are giving them a good multi-vitamin with iron added in. Perfecto!
Also, they need to start playing with toddler toothbrushes. No toothpaste yet, but soon the last thing that should be in their mouths before they go to sleep should be a toddler toothbrush.
And the developmental milestones for the next three months might be:
- Sits well with good head control
- Pulls to stand and walks while holding on to furniture
- Assumes hands/knee position and might crawl
- Hunts for a hidden toy
- Mimics sounds: Mama, Dada, Uh-oh
- Imitates use of objects: telephone, hairbrushwaves
- Plays peek-a-boo
- Looks for hidden objects
- Bangs two blocks together
- Responds to “no” but may not know what that means (huh?)
We’ll keep you all posted as they progreess to the next milestone.. ONE YEAR OLD!!!
